Neiel Baronberg, M.D. is an comprehensive Ophthalmologist at The Eye Center in Denver Associate as well as a Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Colorado Medical Center. Dr. Baronberg received his medical degree from the SUNY-Downstate Medical School in New York where he was elected to AOA – the National Honor Medical Society. He attended a medical internship at Cornell Medical Center-New York Hospital and completed a residency in Ophthalmology at Manhattan Eye and Ear Hospital. In addition, Dr. Baronberg attended a fellowship in retinal diseases after which he was awarded an International Eye Foundation Fellowship to teach in Karachi, Pakistan and then continue his educational experience at Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem, Israel.
Upon returning to the United States, Dr. Baronberg decided to commence providing eye care in Denver where he served as an Ophthalmologist at the multispecialty University Park Medical Clinic near the University of Denver, while at the same time establishing his private practice in Lakewood where he continued to work exclusively after the University Park Medical Clinic closed its doors years later. In 2007, Dr. Baronberg joined The Eye Center in Denver and began working in association with Drs. Larkin and Miller. Dr. Baronberg is on the active staff of Porter Memorial Hospital where he is past Chairman of the Ophthalmology Department of Porter Hospital as well as St. Anthony Hospital.
Dr. Baronberg is available for general adult ophthalmic consultation and comprehensive eye care including general preventive examinations, cataract surgery, glaucoma management and contact lens evaluation.
Dr. Baronberg’s ophthalmic experience over many years is extensive. He understands clearly the individual needs and concerns of all patients who want to be heard and carefully listened to in a relaxed and attentive manner and then examined at a comfortable pace. You will have his undivided attention.
Dr. Baronberg is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. In addition he is a member of the Colorado Medical Society, the Denver Medical Society and the Colorado Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons.
Dr. Baronberg is committed to serving the eye care needs of the needy. He volunteers at the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless Eye and travels yearly to Mante, Mexico in coordination with the Boulder Community Hospital Medical Mission, to perform cataract surgery for the local indigenous farming population which has no other resources to obtain this care. In addition, he supports the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless, the Bluff Lake Nature Center and S.E.E. – International Eye Care Expeditions.
Dr. Baronberg’s outside interests include reading and participation in a book club, biking, racquet sports, swimming, skiing, photography, bird watching and travel. He recently visited Burma, the Ukraine and Israel. Neiel and his wife Joan are the parents of two grown children, Jeremiah and Sabrina living on the East coast.
